JOB DESCRIPTION: This individual will primarily be responsible for designing and producing civil plan sets for residential land development and/or commercial site development projects. This also includes implementing and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards.
DUTIES FOR QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL INCLUDE:
- Supporting engineers for creating construction documents.
- Preparation of Site Plans and House Fit / Location Plans.
- Preparation of Erosion Control Plans.
- Preparation of hydraulic and hydrologic calculations for stormwater management reports.
- Performs assignments requiring the application of fundamental CADD drafting techniques in accordance with established standards and procedures.
- Prepares engineering and construction drawings, using computer aided drafting and design techniques from Topographical survey data.
- General engineering and design information.
- Performs design tasks as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Performs related engineering support tasks, which are not completely standardized or prescribed.
- Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices and compliance with company standards and quality system procedures.
- Create and document concepts, sketches, models, layouts, submittals, instructions, and complete production packages.
- Identify and resolve incomplete or conflicting design inputs.
- Perform design calculations, prepare material and equipment specifications, and provide preliminary sketches and notes for drawings.
- May coordinate the design work for a project.
- May act in a lead role over some drafters.
- Technical problem-solving.
- Some travel and field work to collect data and develop solutions.
- Project planning.
- Develop calculations, diagrams and models to support technical solutions.
- Preparation of construction documents based upon field surveys, available resources and client requirements.
- Permitting research, submittals, and follow-up.
- Work closely with more senior staff members to learn and assist in design work.
- Ability to design in AutoCAD Civil 3D design package.
- High level of proficiency with cut/fill balance grading design in Civil 3D.
- Ability to set up and manage AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards.
- Ability to set up and manage printing/plotting settings.
- Willingness to mentor and teach others.
- Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self starter.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be familiar with MS Office Software
- Ability to work within a team as well as an individual
- Attention to detail, organized
- Experienced with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Familiarity with local development standards is a plus
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Autodesk’s AutoCAD software program or an Associate’s degree or related technical certificate
- Ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas
- Possess exception attention to deal
- Possess a strong work ethic
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Some local area travel may be required on occasions.
